Manchester United have signed Argentinean,Carlos Tevez, after West Ham and Joorabchian negotiated a settlement over the ownership of the player, avoiding legal action.
Finally, Carlos Tevez has signed for Manchester United.
As was expected the different parties came to an out of court settlement which has been approved by the Premier League and the Football Association.
The uncertainty in the Carlos Tevez transfer saga arose over who ‘owned’ the player. West Ham held his registration but his agent Kia Joorabchian and his companies claimed that they owned the player’s economic rights.
The settlement ends the litigation taking place between the respective parties which started in mid-July when Joorabchian’s companies served a High Court writ on West Ham United. This resolution concludes the matter and ensures that contentious documents did not have to be presented to the High Court, hence the speedy resolution after months of wrangling.
Tevez's Manchester United Debut:
It is expected that Tevez will make his debut for Manchester United in a friendly game to be played next week. United have two games, one in Scotland against Dunfermline, the other in Belfast in Northern Ireland against Glentoran. Sir Alex Ferguson is dividing his squad between those two games and one set of fans will have the good fortune to witness the debut of the Argentine in the red shirt of Manchester United.
Sheffield United:
The other forgotten party in this protracted saga, Sheffield United, now have to accept their fate – relegation to the Championship and the loss of the revenue which they would have received from the new television deal accepted by the Premier League. Having tried all avenues in an effort overturn the punishment received by West Ham, feeling that the London club should have received a points deduction for their misdemeanour rather than a fine, they have come to the realisation that there is nothing more that they can do.
