Newcastle United Managing Director, Derek Llambias, has confirmed he is entertaining two offers from organizations attempting to buy the club.

The two bids are believed to be in the region of £100 million and if one of those offers is accepted then Newcastle could change hands in a matter of months.

Owner Mike Ashley Has Made Terrible Decisions

Owner Mike Ashley put the club on the market after some ill fated decisions on his part and the team’s relegation to the Championship was the last straw.

Ashley brought Newcastle in 2007 for a fee of £134.4 million so he would be making a loss of £30 million but not as much as the club has lost on the field in the past 18 months.

Dennis Wise Was The Factor Behind Newcastle's Downfall

Due to back room staff re shuffling, Dennis Wise, was employed as technical director which ruined relations with the then manager and Newcastle Messiah, Kevin Keegan. The inevitable happened and Keegan left with immediate effect but the decision to bring Wise in was seen as the cause of his exit.

Based in London, Wise seemingly had control of transfers and team selection with a certain Xisco and other players being drafted in under Keegan’s nose. Supporters felt Wise didn’t understand the club and for an outsider to come in and flee “King Kev” out of St. James’ Park was met with outrage among the Newcastle faithful.

Wage Bill Was Exhaustive

The exhaustive wage bill was also a cause for concern as protagonists like Michael Owen and Mark Viduka were earning more than goal keeper Steve Harper could feed off for a year. This lack of economic equality divided the dressing room and thus came poor results and a drop down the league table.

In came Shearer, Ashley’s wisest move, but the situation lingered as the Toon Army headed for a relegation dog fight. Shearer did inspire the team but it was too little too late and Ashley’s previous mistakes meant that Shearer was trying to build a house on sand. Ingredients for disaster.

Relegation Was the Equation

Relegation was the equation and even though Alan Shearer is in talks to stay on as head coach, it is Ashley who will depart and rightly so. He has admitted to having made “terrible decisions”, the worst being Keegan’s sudden and shocking departure, but with him out, Shearer should take the reins with authority and influence.

Who will be his boss is another question. It was thought that former owner Freddie Shepherd and a Singapore based group were in the running but whoever takes over will in for a long and hard tenure.

However, if they are the right people with the correct philosophy, Newcastle can start to rebuild their current house of horrors and slowly develop it into a mansion of ambition.
